David McKee at Casino Reports is getting all “get off my lawn” old and reminding all of us of better times, you know 2009. 15 years ago, in a time before resort fees and parking fees and walking on the sidewalk fees, we could book a room for the advertised price and expect normal taxes to be the only added fee. We all know today the room rate is often less than the resort fee. I could continue to yell from my soapbox like Andy Rooney, but I’m tired. Check out the piece by David McKee, he thinks maybe we are hitting a wall on the fees and just maybe things might change. I expect not. Our hero, Scott Roeben of Vital Vegas fame hit the nail right on the head with this quote from the article: “They might not stop going to Vegas,” Roeben muses, “but their trip might go from five times a year to once a year, and that’s huge.” Over the last 30 years I’ve averaged about 4 trips a year, the last 3 years since covid that’s been cut in half.
