Who knew Pitching Pennies was such an old game? The Competition Council certainly didn’t. As far as we knew this game was invented by a group of degenerate middle-schoolers looking for some action during recess. Sure, you could bully small people out of their lunch money but why not turn it into a game and take a rake? How does an 11-year-old know about a rake? That’s another story, and we need to get back to the game. Due to inflation, Pitching Pennies for DECAGONATHON is really Pitching Quarters. The game is simple, pitch the coins toward a wall, whoever is closest wins all of the tossed coins. Our rules are a little different but generally the same, or if you are “extra” go to California and get some old school $1 slot coins, play the DECAGONATHON rules for the points, then whoever wants a little extra action can use the $1 coins to play winner takes all.

Game Rules

  • A toss line will be established 10ish feet from a wall.
  • Each player will toss 3 coins toward the wall, one at a time in round robin style. Player one tosses first coin, Player 2 tosses first coin, Player 1 tosses second coin, etc.
  • Each toss must reach a point at least 2 feet above the ground at some point after leaving the tosser’s hand. Tosser, lol.
  • Each player’s best throw will be identified, order of finish is determined by each player’s best coin.
  • Ties will be broken with a single coin sudden death toss-off until a winner is determined.
